What are the differences between Thais and Americans?
คนไทยกับฝรั่งแตกต่างกันอย่างไร

After having been in Thailand for 8 years now, I’ve noticed several cultural differences.
หลังจากที่อยู่เมืองไทยมาได้แปดปี ผมสังเกตความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมหลายๆอย่าง

Today I’d like to share some of them.
วันนี้ผมอยากจะมาแบ่งปันบางส่วนให้คุณ

American use their feet to do stuff such as open doors and turn on fans.
คนอเมริกันใช้เท้าทำอะไรๆ เช่นเปิดประตู หรือเปิดพัดลม

Thais would never do that.
คนไทยไม่ทำแบบนั้นแน่ๆ

Thais crouch down as they walk past others.
คนไทยก้มหลังเวลาเดินผ่านคนอื่น

Americans just walk past.
คนอเมริกันแค่เดินผ่านไปเฉยๆ

Thais never put books on the ground.
คนไทยไม่วางหนังสือบนพื้น

Americans put books on the ground all the time.
คนอเมริกันวางหนังสือบนพื้นตลอดเวลา

Americans hug their friends even if it’s someone of the opposite sex.
คนอเมริกันกอดกันกับเพื่อนๆ แม้กระทั่งคนที่เป็นเพศตรงข้าม

Thais usually don’t hug their friends.
คนไทยไม่ค่อยกอดกันกับเพื่อนๆ

Thais order food for everybody to share together.
คนไทยสั่งอาหารมาแบ่งกันกิน

Americans typically order for just themselves.
คนอเมริกันโดยทั่วไปสั่งอาหารให้ตัวเองกินเท่านั้น

Thai always take off their shoes before going inside.
คนไทยถอดรองเท้าก่อนเข้าไปข้างใน

Americans only take off their shoes when they’re told to do so.
คนอเมริกันจะถอดร้องเท้าต่อเมื่อถูกขอให้ถอดเท่านั้น

Americans tip servers and taxi drivers.
คนอเมริกันให้ทิปคนเสิร์ฟและคนขับแท็กซี่

Thais typically don’t tip.
คนไทยโดยทั่วไปไม่ให้ทิป

I think that both cultures are great in their own way.
ผมคิดว่าทั้งสองวัฒนธรรมมีสิ่งดีๆในตัวเอง
